My First Semester at New Purveyors

By Fernanda Cordeiro: A Grade 11 Co-op Student

My first semester at New Purveyors has been a really meaningful experience for me. When I began co-op, I wasn’t completely sure what the work would be like, but I ended up learning a lot from both my tasks and the people around me. One of the parts I enjoyed most was writing blogs and property descriptions. It helped me improve my writing skills, and it was great to see how my work contributed to the team. I also took part in filming social media videos. At first, I didn’t enjoy being in front of the camera, but over time, I started to feel more comfortable with it.

A big part of what made this semester so valuable was the people I worked with. Everyone at New Purveyors was extremely welcoming and easy to talk to. I learned a lot just by listening to agents and asking questions. Their advice and the way they handled different situations taught me things that I couldn’t learn from assignments alone.

I also appreciated the fun activities the team organized. Whether it was meetings, lunches, or potlucks, those moments helped me feel included and made the work environment even better. They gave me the chance to get to know everyone on a more personal level, which made a big difference in how comfortable I felt at work.

Another thing that stood out to me this semester was the level of independence I was given. Even though I was a co-op student, I felt trusted to handle real tasks that actually mattered. This pushed me to be more responsible with my time and pay attention to the small details in my work. It also helped me gain more confidence in my abilities because I could see myself improving over time. Having this type of trust made the experience feel more real and gave me a better idea of what working in a professional environment is actually like.

Overall, I am very grateful for how kind and supportive everyone was during my first semester. It made my experience positive and helped me feel confident in the work I was doing. I’m looking forward to my second semester and to continuing to learn at New Purveyors.
