A Day in The Life of a Grade 11 Co-op Student

Written By Fernanda Cordeiro

When I first started my co-op with New Purveyors, I didn’t really know what to expect. Before starting, I honestly didn’t know what type of things I’d be doing. I’ve learned that there’s a whole creative side to real estate that I didn’t see before, and it’s been really interesting to see how much work goes into everything behind the scenes.

Most of my days are spent writing blog posts or MLS descriptions for new listings. I usually get the details and photos of a property, then try to describe it in a way that sounds interesting and true to what makes it special. It’s actually harder than I thought, you have to make each home stand out, but still keep it realistic. I’ve learned a lot about how certain words or details can make a big difference when people are looking for a place to buy.

Sometimes I get to tag along when Brian, the photographer, is taking pictures of a new listing. That’s one of my favourite parts because I get to see how much effort goes into it. The agents and photographer pay attention to lots of little details, like angles and lighting. Watching that process taught me how important presentation is in real estate; it’s not just about having a nice home, it’s about showing it the right way.

Even though I’m just a student, I feel like I’ve been able to help in ways that matter. Whether it’s writing a post for the team’s website or describing a kitchen with really nice lighting, I’ve learned how to notice the small things that make each property unique.

This co-op placement has changed how I see real estate. It’s about communication and creativity, not just selling houses. I’ve learned a lot about the team, and I’m glad I get to see how much effort they put in behind the scenes.

Overall, I’m really grateful to be a part of this team. Everyone has been so kind and so willing to teach me new things or help me out when I need it. New Purveyors has made this Co-op experience something that I’ll always appreciate and remember.
