The Civic Hospital neighbourhood surrounds Ottawa’s Civic Hospital, and also features Ottawa’s Experimental Farm and Central Park.

This area of Ottawa is mostly made up of people who live close to the hospital by necessity and those who are interested in living close to the greenery of the Experimental Farm. Being close to downtown while still outside of the major business of the city makes this the perfect neighbourhood for growing families who don’t want to be too far from the action.

Students residing in the Civic Hospital area have the option to enroll in one of five elementary schools: St. George (Junior Kindergarten - Grade 6), Elmdale Public School (JK - Grade 6), Fisher Park Public/Summit Alternative School (Grades 7-8), Devonshire Public School (JK - Grade 6), and Connaught Public School (JK - Grade 6). These schools are located in nearby neighbourhoods, providing a range of educational opportunities for students in the area.

Civic Hospital is a small neighbourhood but is closely connected to the neighbourhoods of Westboro, Fisher Park, Wellington West, The Glebe, and more which offer a huge wealth of community programs, centres, facilities, and events.

Civic Hospital is probably one of the most pet-friendly neighbourhoods because of its proximity to outdoor space. The Experimental Farm is filled with walking trails and open space for your pets to enjoy the outdoors away from cars and busy roads.

With lots of outdoor space, less busy roads, close access to the doctors, and still a relative proximity to downtown, this is a great neighbourhood for families.

Civic Hospital is close to all the shopping options among the streets of Westboro, and just a short drive to the downtown core for the Rideau Centre. Big box stores like Walmart can be found in the Central Park section of the neighbourhood.

There are plenty of options for groceries around the Civic Hospital neighbourhood, in Westboro, Wellington West, The Glebe, and City View.

Civic Hospital doesn’t have much night life of it’s own but is relatively close to bars throughout Westboro and is just a short drive to the downtown core for Bank, Elgin, and Byward Market bars.

There are lots of restaurants in surrounding areas for all tastes - in fact, some of the best dining in the city is just down the road in Little Italy.

Civic Hospital has lots of single-family homes. There are very few condos in the direct area.

Civic Hospital is home to one of Ottawa’s largest green spaces, the Experimental Farm. There are also some parks nearby like Alexander Park and Meadowvale Terrace Park.
